What do I need in order to use the ACN Digital Phone Service?

* A valid credit card (Mastercard or Visa) for the initial order and ongoing automatic recharge of your monthly service fee
* A high-speed Internet connection such as DSL or Cable Internet which supports a minimum upload speed of 256 Kbps

 

Can I use a mobile broadband connection to support my ACN Digital Phone Service?

No. Operation of the IRIS series of Videophone requires a terrestrial broadband Internet connection (e.g. DSL or Cable Internet). Mobile (HSDPA) broadband does not have the bandwidth or stability necessary to adequately support the dedicated video calling capabilities of the device. We do not recommend that Videophones be connected to the Internet via a mobile broadband modem and we cannot provide technical support for a device that is set-up in this manner.

 

Can I order more than one service?

Yes, you may connect more than one Digital Phone Service at your residential address. However, as the ACN Digital Phone Service is a pre-paid service, each service must be registered to a separate account.

 

If I already own a Videophone, can I sign up for ACN Digital Phone Service?

Currently, all ACN Digital Phone Service prepaid offers require the purchase of a videophone. Please note that the ACN Digital Phone Service in New Zealand does not support videophone equipment purchased overseas.

Can I order the IRIS 3000 Videophone without sigining up for the ACN Digital Phone Service?

No, the ACN Digital Phone Service and Videophone are sold as a bundled prepaid offer; the videophone unit is not sold separately.

 

Can I order the ACN Digital Phone Service for business purposes?

ACN will allow small business customers to purchase the ACN Digital Phone Service for postpaid purchases only, although the service was developed as a consumer grade, voice over IP (VoIP) service.. The Digital Phone Service is suitable however for small office/home office use, where a guaranteed quality of service is not required. Please note if signing up for the pre-paid product each Digital Phone Service must be established on a separate account in the name of an individual (i.e. accounts cannot be established for a business entity).

 

Can I place a bulk order for the ACN Digital Phone Service?

For reasons relating to the assignment of phone numbers, we can only provision Digital Phone Service accounts where the proposed location of each service has first been provided by an individual customer. As such, we regret that we cannot accommodate bulk requests for services at this time.

 

Can I take the Videophone handset away with me?

No, as each Digital Phone Service is assigned a geographic phone number fixed to the service location you nominated at sign-up. You should not move your videophone from its nominated service address without first contacting us to change your address and, if required, have a new phone number allocated to your Digital Phone Service.
