Before you leave

Call us and let us know that you wish to use Global Roaming, as we’ll need to enable it for your number. Access to Roaming is granted at our discretion and we may ask you to provide additional security while you’re away.

When you get there

Simply turn your phone on when you reach your destination. Within 30 seconds, most phones automatically select an ACN roaming partner network if coverage is available.

Note: If you’re visiting some countries such as the USA and Canada, you’ll require a GSM 1900MHz (tri-band) or GSM 850Mhz (quad-band) compatible handset. 3G Roaming requires a W-CDMA (3G) compatible handset.

Making calls

When you roam, your outgoing calls use the foreign network just like any domestic customer of that network. When you make a call you’ll be charged the respective national or international zone rate. These charges include local taxes and any applicable ACN surcharges (see table below).

Receiving calls

Calls you receive while roaming are forwarded from our network in Australia. Your callers dial (and are charged) as if you’re in Australia. You will be charged the applicable incoming voice or video zone rate for receiving calls.

If a received call is diverted to Voicemail because you do not answer or because your phone is busy, you will also be charged the international call rate for the applicable zone to divert the caller back to your Voicemail box in Australia. These charges may be minimised by setting an “unconditional” diversion to Voicemail, so that all incoming calls are sent directly to your Voicemail rather than to your overseas location.

All calls are charged with an initial increment of 60 seconds and subsequent increments of 30 seconds. All rates are listed in Australian dollars. Roaming rates and the zone assignment for a particular country are subject to change without notice, due to fluctuations in international currency exchange rates and changes to charges imposed by overseas partner networks.

Save 20% using preferred local networks

In selected countries you can SAVE 20% off the standard zone rates for voice and video calls by using our preferred local network partners (discount excludes flagfall). Important Information

All rates listed in Australian dollars. GST does not apply to services supplied outside of Australia. It may take several months for roaming charges to appear on your bill. 3G Roaming requires compatible mobile device to use 3G data. To make and receive video calls, both calling and receiving parties require a 3G handset and must be located in a 3G coverage area on a network that supports video calling. Some handsets may not be supported by all networks. ACN and our network partners make no warranty regarding the quality and availability of coverage or any services (e.g. SMS, GPRS, Calling Number Display) or the compatibility of your handset with a particular overseas network.
